In our last video, as part of a series of videos from a single case of PVR-associated RD repair, we finish the case with silicone oil implantation and conjunctival closure. Here, we have opted for use of 5000 centistoke oil and we discuss methods for safe implantation of oil, avoiding elevated intraocular pressure and achieving the desired level of silicone oil fill. Finally we close the eye, taking care to reapproximate the conjunctiva to optimize patient comfort and cosmesis. We wrap up this series of videos with learning points from episodes 24-29. Although these steps are discussed in the context of PVR-associated RD repair, the principles can be applied to many surgical scenarios.
