When performing scleral fixation of an Akreos A060 lens, the process of folding and delivering the lens into the anterior chamber can be both cumbersome and traumatic to the IOL and cornea. In today’s episode, guest surgeon Dr. Jesus Maticorena Quevedo, demonstrates Akreos lens implantation using the B cartridge IOL injector. When using the B cartridge, it’s important to ensure that the delivered Gore-Tex sutures are not tangled and that they are externalized through the correct corresponding sclerotomies. This technique makes folding the lens easier, potentially less traumatic to the cornea and IOL and can be done through a slightly smaller clear corneal incision.
