Creation of ILM flaps, as opposed to conventional ILM peeling, has been shown to increase the rate of large macular hole closure. However, when performing ILM flaps, should you use the flap to cover the hole or should you fill the hole with the ILM flap ? That’s what we will be discussing today. Our guest surgeon is Dr. RP Singh, a vitreoretinal specialist and Chairman of the Visitech Eye Centre in New Delhi, India. This case beautifully demonstrates the so-called “double rhexis technique” with ILM flaps, which he used for a patient with a large macular hole. We want to thank Dr. Singh for sharing this case!
