Anti-vegf pharmacotherapy has revolutionized our management of neovascular AMD, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal diseases. However injection burden remains an issue for patients and physicians alike. To address this issue we now have newer-generation anti-VEGF medications with greater durability of action and gene therapy strategies are on the horizon. Another approach is the port delivery system (Susvimo™), a surgically implanted device that serves as a reservoir for ranibizumab and slowly elutes the medication over many months thereby providing a sustained delivery of anti-VEGF medication and decreasing injection burden. In today’s video we welcome guest surgeon of the week Dr. Michael Klufas, who will show you today the basics of PDS implantation and exchange. Dr. Klufas is an attending vitreoretinal surgeon at the Wills Eye Hospital and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University.
