173. PPV + Tube Shunt Implantation

Tube shunt implantation may be indicated in patients with neovascular glaucoma who are inadequately controlled with medical therapy.  In some cases, tube implantation in the anterior chamber may not be ideal or possible in patients with PAS, a shallow anterior chamber and who may be at risk for endothelial decompensation.  In this scenario placement of a tube in the ciliary sulcus or pars plana may be necessary.  Our returning guest surgeon is Dr. Aissani Frederic, Head of Ophthalmology at Cambrai Hospital in France.  His patient has neovascular glaucoma with counting fingers vision and an IOP of 29 on maximum topical and oral medical therapy who is scheduled for combination vitrectomy and tube shunt implantation.  Thank you Dr. Frederic for sharing this case!
