Endophthalmitis is a rare but potentially devastating complication associated with any ophthalmic surgery, including vitreoretinal surgery. Transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy can be associated higher risk of endophthalmitis. However, these risks can be mitigated by improved surgical technique. In this episode we discuss the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative steps you can take to decrease the risk of endophthalmitis associated with pars plana vitrectomy.
