This patient has a traumatic retinal detachment with a view to the posterior pole that is obscured by a severe corneal scar. Some vitreoretinal surgeons may opt for a combined temporary keratoprosthesis, vitrectomy and corneal transplantation to repair the detachment. Here returning guest surgeon Dr. Kirk Hou show us that a vitrectomy is possible even with severe anterior segment pathology. At the end of the case we discuss some of the pros and cons of combined TKP/PPV/PKP and staged vitreoretinal/corneal surgery. Thank you Dr. Hou for sharing this case!
