Although we routinely rely on operating room staff to set up the vitrectomy machine, sometimes you may be operating with a team that is unfamiliar with vitrectomy or unfamiliar with a different surgical platform. It’s important for vitreoretinal surgeons to understand how to set up the vitrectomy machine not only for situations where the OR staff needs support but also to be able to troubleshoot issues with the machine setup should they arise.
