Giant retinal tear detachments are a subset of rhegmatogenous retinal detachments that requires special consideration. In today’s case, presented by returning guest surgeon Dr. Saarang Hansraj, we will discuss some of the basic considerations when performing GRT detachment repair including: 1) whether or not to remove the lens, 2) the role of a scleral buckle, 3) how to avoid retinal slippage and 4) choice of tamponade agent.
