88. UNITY Tetraspot Laser

I recently had the opportunity to demo the new Alcon UNITY platform and one of the most exciting advancements is the Tetraspot laser. Unlike a traditional single spot laser, the UNITY Tetraspot gives the surgeon the ability to apply 1-, 2- or 4-spot patterns, thereby adding efficiency when performing laser photocoagulation. Typical applications of multispot laser would include PRP and peripheral barrage laser, the latter of which is demonstrated in this case. The patient is a pseudophakic female with a superior, nasal and inferior macula-involving rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Here I discuss some of my first impressions with the laser probe and we will show more applications of the laser as well as discuss some of the functionality and upgrades in the new UNITY platform in future episodes. Please note that Retina Rounds and I have no financial interest in the content presented.
