Today Dr. Rahimy and I review a fascinating and challenging case submitted by Dr. Pravin Patil, a vitreoretinal surgeon at the Shri Venkatesh Eye Institute in Mumbai, India. A patient wearing a silver anklet had it snag on her clothing. When she pulled on it, the anklet broke and a fragment struck her eye, resulting in an irregular intraocular foreign body and decreased vision. This video highlights a surgical approach to removing an irregularly shaped intraocular foreign body with a concurrent pars plana lensectomy, illustrating key intraoperative strategies and pearls that are relevant for surgeons managing similar trauma cases. Thank you, Dr. Patil, for sharing this case!
